How is the golden cutlery made for 23Bassi Home?

The entire production is carried out by a leading company in the province of Brescia, a guarantee of excellence.

The stainless steel is inserted into moulds that will shape forks, knives, tablespoons and teaspoons.
From this first step the cutlery comes out two-dimensional, i.e. "flat".

They then require the curving process. After that they are brushed, polished and finally undergo a treatment called PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition).

The stainless steel
cutlery coated with PVD embellishes the table, as a simple daily tool becomes a designer object of the highest quality.
The gold finish that 23Bassi Home has chosen is made possible by PVD technology.
This gives the cutlery a beautiful colour that automatically reminds us of classicism. Refined, luminous and intense, the gold hues do not go unnoticed. When paired with dark colours it warms and brightens, and when paired with light and subdued colours, it lightens and highlights.

The aesthetic properties of PVD treatment are also suitable for precious jewellery, watches, fashion accessories and furnishing elements such as handles.
The finish gives an appearance similar to that of solid gold.
This coating is as hard as sapphire and second in hardness only to diamond.

The PVD treatment allows the deposition of a thin but extremely hard layer on the substrate to be coated, thus obtaining a series of characteristics: resistance to abrasion due to its hardness, inalterability to UV rays, resistance to solvents and corrosion, resistance to acid products for domestic and industrial use, using various colours with great chromatic effect, such as gold, silver and nickel plating. There is a wide range of surface finishes: from bright and satin polish to various degrees of opacity. In addition, the PVD finish is non-toxic and allergy-free, and has no migration of substances that are irritating to people's health.

PVD is environmentally friendly

It is worth emphasising that the entire PVD process is environmentally friendly: no pollutants or toxic residues that could poison our planet are produced in any phase of its processing. During the steps there are no atmospheric releases of any kind.
It offers a safe, clean and environmentally sustainable process.
It can be used also for medical instruments such as scalpels, where sharpness and durability are crucial. And also in the processing of materials for bone prostheses. In other words, it is suitable for all objects intended for prolonged contact with people.

We often hear about stainless steel, do you really know what it is?

The success of stainless steel is due to its high-performance properties. It is a quality material, durable, resistant, beautiful and elegant.
For these reasons it is widely used in interior design and 23Bassi Home has frequently chosen it.
In the home it is used for bathroom taps, the kitchen sink and the cooker. We find it in cutlery and cookware, as well as in furniture.
Steel is made by combining iron, carbon and chromium in different percentages. The latter element does not allow the steel to develop rust, the chromium forms a protective film that does not react in contact with oxygen. In practice, the physical process called oxidation does not occur.
"Stainless steel", from the French inoxydable, meaning no oxidation.
It is no coincidence that in English, the term used, Stainless Steel, highlights its non-stain qualities.
